A breakfast nook by definition is a small space to eat small meals in. A breakfast nook, aka morning room, aka informal dining room, aka eat-in-kitchen surprisingly all mean different types of spaces you may be looking at. The breakfast nook is a small space in or near the kitchen typically with built-in seating such as benches with a long table, and windows facing east. A morning room is a small room off of the kitchen with eastern facing windows for the morning light. This space usually have comfortable chairs with a side table for holding cups of tea or coffee as one reads the morning paper. An informal dining room is off of the kitchen with a designated eating space or a half wall. The eat-in-kitchen is a small space for a bistro or cafe-style table or high-tops chairs at a breakfast bar.
To take the step about materials a step further, you need to be careful about the color schemes that you choose in a modern kitchen nook. Floral patterns or patterns at all are not used in most modern kitchens. A home decorated in a modern style will use solid colors that are bright and contrasting. Two tone color schemes with one light and one dark color are most common. For example, black and white is classic. Another example would be a dark navy blue and a light cream color, or bright red and white. Whatever color scheme you decide upon for your modern breakfast nook, make sure it matches the rest of your kitchen.
If you are in the market for a new table to dine on but live in a - shall we say - space challenged area, dinettes are an excellent choice. If you like the modern or contemporary look then a contemporary dinette set might be just what you need. Today's designers and manufacturers offer an amazing variety of different sizes styles colors that are excellent solutions whether you live in a small apartment or are trying to decorate a new starter home. Contemporary art is the art produced sometime since Word War II. It is then one art that shaped modern history. They are the kind of art that overcome historical changes - it is the art that lasted through the years. It is constant to the very core and that explains why contemporary is constantly evolving. Designs come and go and what was once popular 30 years ago becomes popular again. Contemporary for this time period may be an antique for your children and contemporary again for your grandchildren - who knows.
