Since new regulations were made law in 1988 (The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) regulations 1988) it is very important when purchasing new bar furniture that the correct certification to show that the fabric used has been treated for fire retardancy and that any foam fillings are made of combustion modified foam. The supplier of the bar furniture will be able to supply these. Bar stools are available at bar height to either stand by the bar or to stand alongside tall tables (poseur tables) designed specifically for drinking at rather than for dining. Poseur tables can have single pedestals with one or two table tops at different heights which take up little space and look very attractive when set in a room with other regular height bar furniture.
So, what should you factor in before purchasing your set of bar tables? Of course your budget comes first. How much you are prepared to spend goes a long way in determining your selection. But be sure to get one that will last. Compare the different types available and decide on the one that suits you best: plastic, metal or wooden bar tables. If your table is going to be set up in your dining area, then it must blend in and complement the overall décor.
The dimensions of the bar table you select can make a big difference. If your bar serves meals then you will have to offer room for meal plates to fit on them. These may be square tables that fit 2 to 4 people at each table. If you are just serving drinks at your bar then you may choose the smaller circular tables that can also fit four people around them but they use considerably less room. If you choose small tables it is easy to fit much more of them into your bar area.
